In a significant development, Hobart Hurricanes have drafted James Neesham into their team for the Big Bash League starting next week.

The experienced New Zealand all-rounder comes in as an overseas replacement for Pakistan's Faheem Ashraf, who is currently with the national side for the ongoing Test series against England on home soil.

Neesham seemed excited to make his BBL debut and looked determined to play his role to perfection for the Hurricanes in the tournament.

Here's what Neesham said

"I am really excited to be involved with the Big Bash for the first time this year. I’ve heard great things about the Hurricanes set up, and the list this year looks incredibly strong, so to be able to play even a small part in what I hope will be a successful tournament for the franchise is a really great opportunity for me."

The 32-year-old has a plethora of experience in the shortest format, having played in 217 T20s, scoring 2934 runs and scalping 174 wickets. Furthermore, he is an integral part of New Zealand's T20I setup, as he has scored 688 runs besides picking 25 wickets in 60 appearances.

Regarded as someone who can ensure a fitting finish and chip in with a few overs, Neesham's addition has definitely strengthened the Hurricanes.
