The upcoming few months will provide a stern test to the England women's team. The T20 World Cup awaits them in South Africa, February, before the World champions Australia visit England for a riveting Ashes series.

The newly appointed England women's head coach, Jon Lewis reckons that the upcoming T20 World Cup and Ashes should be high on the priority list for this England team.

The Heather Knight England side had a disappointing first half of 2022. They finished fourth in the Commonwealth Games and were recently brushed aside 3-0 by India in ODI series.

Lewis has his priority set

"When you take over an England team, World Cups and Ashes series are at the top of the priority list."

He added: We've got a beautifully balanced side now and this summer we saw the emergence of some players who might not have got those opportunities had all our players were fit and firing. I'm fortunate they have tasted international cricket now, and know what it takes to win at international level."

Jon Lewis' first assignment as the England head coach will be the white-ball tour of the Caribbean, with the visitors facing West Indies in 3 ODIs and 5 T20I matches.
