MI's lucky charm Kieron Pollard feels blessed to lead their Emirates unit

Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard retired from the Indian Premier League earlier in November, citing that if he doesn't play for Mumbai, then he won't be playing.

With that announcement, the prolific allrounder made it clear that he would be playing for MI Emirates in the inaugural edition of the International T20. It was always on the cards that Pollard would be leading the Emirates unit, and it got official on December 2.

While sharing his excitement to be named MI Emirates' captain, the Trinidadian cricketer said:

“I’m very excited about this opportunity to be the Captain of a new team. As the one leading the MI Emirates, I hope to share my experience and skills and help build a team that plays to win. MI is about passion, about giving cricket your all. For me 2023 is all about MI Emirates," said Pollard in an official update by Mumbai Indians. 

The 36-year-old, who will be MI's batting coach in IPL, will be having familiar faces around in the ILT20 as well. 

The franchise in the new league will be headed by Shane Bond, while Parthiv Patel and R Vinay Kumar will be their batting and bowling coaches respectively, with Robin Singh being the general manager of cricket.

Among players, the Keiron Pollard-led unit will have the services of Nicholas Pooran, Trent Boult, Dwayne Bravo, Imran Tahir, Andre Fletcher, Najibullah Zardan, et al.
