Suryakumar Yadav has been in phenomenal form this season. He has scored 1,164 runs in the last 21 T20I matches at an average of 46.56, including two centuries and nine fifties. Climbing his way to the top and claiming the ICC number 1 T20I spot. 

India and South Africa faced each other in the group stage in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where Surya was the lone ranger among the batters, scoring a brilliant 68 off 40 balls. Surya was the third highest run-scorer in the tournament. 

South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje has heaped praise on the batter, claiming that he is key to the Indian team. 

What Anrich said

"Suryakumar Yadav is a key batter for India. Whenever he plays, his shots are at a different level. I wish he continues his good form and plays the 2023 Cricket World Cup."

Nortje was all praise for the Indian batting lineup, stating that with players like Surya and Virat Kohli now back in form India is one of the most dangerous sides. The Proteas bowler also talked about Kohli and how he has made his way back from bad form. Asking the Indian management to show more trust in the former captain. 

"They (Team India) have to show more trust in him (Virat) now."
