Ricky Ponting, 47, returned to his commentary duties in the ongoing Test match between Australia and West Indies being played at Optus Stadium, Perth. The legendary Australian batter, on Friday, was taken to hospital after suffering a heart scare.

While being on his commentary stint, Ponting felt "sharp pains" in his chest and "dizziness" before he was rushed to the hospital by his former teammate Justin Langer with the assistance of the Australian team's doctor Leigh Golding.

However, after spending some good hours at a local hospital, the former Australian captain was discharged as he returned "fresh and all shiny" for Day 4 of the Perth Test match.

While talking to the broadcaster Channel 7, Ponting gave updates on his health:

"I probably scared a lot of people yesterday and had a scary moment for myself.

"I was sitting in the commentary box halfway through the stint and got a couple of really short and sharp pains to my chest. I tried to stretch it out and get rid of it, and probably didn't want to give too much away when I was on the air."

Langer, who is also commentating in the Test match, was commentating with his former captain when the incident occurred.

"I mentioned to JL (Langer) on the way out, who was commentating with me, that I had had these pains in my chest and he got me out of there. 10 or 15 minutes later, I was in the hospital getting the best treatment that I possibly could," Ponting concluded.

At the time of writing, the home team have a huge lead of 418 runs. The Windies have a huge task on their plate, however; their openers - Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul - are trying their best to fight it out.
