In an unfortunate turn of events, ace Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the Bangladesh ODIs due to a shoulder injury.

Shami sustained the injury during a training session after returning from the T20 World Cup in Australia, where India suffered a painful semifinal ouster.

The news was confirmed by the BCCI on its official Twitter handle. Promising seamer Umran Malik has been named his replacement.

As a result of the injury, Shami is also doubtful for the Test series between the two teams starting December 14.

Shami's absence could be a significant blow to India, as he was supposed to spearhead the Indian pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. However, it opens the door for the other seamers, especially Umran, who is waiting for chances to cement their place in the team.

India's squad for Bangladesh ODIs
