The ongoing Test between hosts Australia and West Indies was not a happy outing for Nkrumah Bonner, who is playing his fifteenth Test.

Bonner was replaced by Shamarh Brooks, who came in as a concussion substitute in the first session of Day three after the former was hit on the helmet off Cameron Green's bowling.

Bonner misjudged a short ball by Green in the 33rd over of the Windies' innings while batting on 8. The right-handed batter soon retired hurt on 16, ending a 28-run second wicket stand with skipper Kraigg Brathwaite.

Brooks, 34, has played 11 Tests, scoring 501 runs at an average of 25.05. The Barbados-born found himself immediately in the middle of the action coming into bat after the fall of Jason Holder's wicket on 27, with West Indies wobbling on 209 for 4.

At the time of publishing this report, West Indies are 257 for 6, with Brooks and Roston Chase batting on 29* and 4*, respectively. The visitors are still trailing by 341 runs and require 142 more runs to avoid the follow-on.
