After previous news of Taskin Ahmed missing the first ODI, another blow has jolted the Bangladesh side as skipper Tamim Iqbal has now been sidelined due to a groin injury that will see him miss the entire one-day series against India.

Further, he could be missing the first Test of the series if he fails to recover within the next 15 days or so. As of now, he has been asked to take proper rest for at least a period of two weeks.

The left-hander faced the groin issue while participating in the warm-up match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday.

In Tamim's absence, Shakib Al Hasan is expected to step up and take the captaincy duties but it remains to be seen if Nurul Hasan is given the preference or not. The official confirmation on the appointment of skipper is still awaited.

The first ODI of the series will begin on 4th December with the third one slated for 10th December. Whereas the initial Test of the two-match series will be played between 14th and 18th December.

The series will also see Indian mainstays Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli return after being rested from the previous one against New Zealand.
