Pakistan's pacer Haris Rauf recalled his time in Melbourne and his first meeting with the Indian legend Ravi Shastri. Rauf's journey started off in Australia, when the bowler first made his name at the Big Bash League. He played for the Melbourne Renegades.

The former Indian head coach took note of Rauf's extraordinary bowling at the MCG when Rauf came as a mere net bowler to bowl to the Indian batters.

What Haris said

"I would meet him [Ravi Shastri] often. He would say 'you would come to bowl to Indian batters as a net bowler.. and the way you're bowling now in world cricket, you've made a name for yourself, it makes us really happy.' He knows everything, Virat Kohli too appreciates how I've made my way from being a net bowler. "

Rauf also talked about being hit by Kohli for two sixes in India's opening match against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022.

“The way he played in the World Cup, that is his class, we all know the types of shots he plays. And the way he hit those sixes, I don’t think any other player can hit shots like those off my bowling. If Dinesh Karthik or Hardik Pandya would’ve hit those sixes, I would’ve been hurting but those came off Kohli’s bat and he is a different class altogether,"
