A rising star in Afghan cricket, Ibrahim Zadran accumulated a truckload of runs in the recently concluded One-Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka. Afghanistan's Zadran slammed his third ODI ton in the final match last evening, which the Lankan Lions, thanks to Charith Asalanka's 83-run unbeaten knock, won and managed to draw the series level.

The 20-year-old amassed 278 runs at an average of 92.66, which included two exhilarating hundreds as well to win himself a worthy player of the series award. Zadran, while collecting his award, dedicated his 162-run innings to his parents back home.

According to India Today, the right-hander opener also spoke in detail about his approach during the third ODI.

“I would like to dedicate this award to my parents for all the hardwork they have put in. I'm very happy with my performance. The ball was keeping low and stopping, so I took my time in the beginning. We lost three wickets in the middle, but then I and Najib played well.

I was telling him we'd try for 250 but after he got 50 and I got my hundred, our target was 300. This is just the start of my cricket, I will try to do more great things for my country, for the people of Afghanistan,”

The Khost-born has played 4 Tests, 8 ODIs, and 16 T20Is for his nation, scoring 1,170 international runs combined.
