With the 3rd and final ODI between New Zealand and India getting abandoned due to rain, the home side snatched the ODI series 1-0. Kane Williamson led unit won the first game comfortably, while the other two matches were washed out.

Fair to say that the Indian batters performed better than expected, especially the likes of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. However, it was the bowling unit which was the letdown for the Indian side.

Now after the conclusion of the series, stand-in India skipper, Shikhar Dhawan has opined that the series has been a great learning curve for the bowling unit and it's important to understand where to pitch the ball at the right time.

Dhawan speaks

"We are a young unit and they (bowling unit) must have learnt about bowling in good length areas. With the ball, we were on the shorter side. Also it's important to take the partnership deep, especially with the overcast conditions.

In Bangladesh, all senior players will be back, that'll be a more practical journey towards the 2023 World Cup. [For the juniors], it's important to pick up the details; like where to pitch the ball and at what lengths."

It has been a mixed campaign for this young Indian side. They'll now travel to Bangladesh for 3 ODI matches and 2 Tests. The series starts from December 4.
