To the disappointment of cricket fans, another fixture in the ODI series between New Zealand and India has been washed out due to rain. Thus, the hosts New Zealand, having won the first match in Auckland, have claimed the series by 1-0.

Batting first, India got off to a forgettable start, losing openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill cheaply. The Indian ship sank further with the dismissals of Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav, who managed only 10 and 6 runs, respectively.

However, Shreyas Iyer continued his dream run in ODIs, playing another vital knock of 49 runs. After his departure, Washington Sundar hammered an impressive 64-ball 51, getting ample support from the tailenders, especially Yuzvendra Chahal, at the other end. His heroic knock helped India cross the 200-run mark, as the Men in Blue were bundled out for a respectable 219 in 47.3 overs.

In reply, New Zealand began the chase emphatically, with Finn Allen and Devon Conway adding 97 runs in 16.1 overs for the first wicket. Before being dismissed by Umran Malik, Allen smashed 57 runs off 54 balls with the help of eight fours and one six. However, the rain intervened right after the eighteenth over concluded. Unfortunately, no further play was possible, as the umpires finally called off the fixture.
