In a major blow, BCCI President and 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny has been handed over the conflict of interest charge by the BCCI ethics officer Vineet Saran.

The recently appointed head of the apex body has been under scanner because of his daughter-in-law Mayanti Langer who is a presenter for Star Sports which is the current media rights holder of domestic and international games played in India.

The 67-year-old has been asked to submit a response by 20th December in written clearing his stand on the matter.

"You are hereby informed that a complaint has been received under Rule 39(2)(b) of the Rules and Regulations of BCCI by the Ethics Officer, BCCI for breach of Rule 38 (1) (i) and Rule 38(2) of the said rules, constituting an instance of "conflict of interest" on your part.

"You are directed to file your Written Response to the accompanying complaint on or before 20/12/2022. The said response should be supported by a duly executed affidavit."

Binny succeeded Sourav Ganguly to become the 36th President of BCCI in October. The former all-rounder has represented India in 27 Tests and 20 ODIs.
