Ahead of the Frank Worrell Trophy between Australia and West Indies, the hype has been around former Australian head coach Justin Langer's remarks.

Langer last week stated that there are 'cowards' in the Australian team who leaked private conversations and backstabbed him during his tenure.

However, on the eve of the first Test against the Windies, current Australia skipper Pat Cummins hit back at Langer, saying there are no cowards in the team.

However, Cummins refrained from making any personal comments about his former coach, and only praised Australia's laurels in the past 12 months.

"There's no cowards in an Australian cricket team, not ever. I'd probably never disclose private conversations. I think it's disappointing sometimes the focus gets drawn to off-field issues but it hasn't really affected our team,

"I think there's no ill will to what he was trying to do and he clarified afterwards. I think he had a think about it and clarified it, so thank him for that. But we're really proud of the last 12 months, how we've fronted up, the way we've played, the way we've conducted ourselves."

The first of the two-Test series gets underway tomorrow in Perth. With public perception at an all-time low and in support of home-boy Langer, former Australian keeper Ian Healy warned that Cummins and Co. could face some backlash from fans in the stadium.
