Rains came as a wet blanket as India lost the chance of winning an ODI series

Rain at Hamilton shattered the hopes for a young and aspiring Indian outfit to level the series against the Kane Williamson-led unit. The Indians came into the 2nd ODI after losing the first clash by an appalling unbeaten 221-run partnership by Tom Latham and Captain Williamson. 

Bad weather was always predicated on Sunday at Hamilton's Seddon Park - however, the game kickstarted on scheduled time but the first drizzle started pouring after 4.5 overs' play. 

After a four-hour-long halt, the game was shortened to 29 overs - with the Indian total reading 22/0 with Shubman Gill looking at his supreme best. The extensive break cost the visitors the wicket of skipper Shikhar Dhawan to a cross-seam delivery by Matt Henry

Dhawan's exit brought in the virtuoso Suryakumar Yadav to the middle. The Number three batter for India initially found it tough to find the meat of his blade - then it was Gill who was walking the talk with the bat. Soon SKY also started tonking the Kiwi bowlers in his illustrations 360-esque fashion, and they blistered through with an unbeaten 66-run partnership. 

But when these two were going all guns blazing, the rain hit back and it came down to put the final full-stop to the game, forcing the umpires to put an end to a frustrating day. 

With this, the Black Caps will head to Christchurch with a lead of 1-0, and it will be either India levelling the series or the hosts winning the series.
