PCB doesn't have guts; even Bangladesh, Afghanistan can also refuse: Danish Kaneria

There has been a cold war going on between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Pakistan Cricket Board after the former body refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup that is scheduled in 2023.

Earlier in October, BCCI's secretary Jay Shah stated that India won't be travelling to Pakistan, and asked his counterparts to shift the venue to a neutral venue.

“The Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue. I am saying this as ACC President. We [India] can’t go there, they can’t come here. In the past also, the Asia Cup has been played at a neutral venue,” Shah had said after BCCI's annual general meeting.

However, BCCI and Shah's comments fumed fire in Pakistan as PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said that if India doesn't come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, they will boycott the World Cup scheduled to take place in India next year.

But former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria feels PCB doesn't have the guts in them and stated that it will be their loss if they decide not to visit India.

"The PCB does not have enough guts to boycott an ICC event. India, on the other hand, don't care if Pakistan don't come," Kaneria said.

Officials will say that they had no other option as there was pressure from the ICC. It will hurt Pakistan cricket badly if they talk about skipping an ICC event again and again," he added.

The former spinner further went on to say that Bangladesh and Afghanistan could also refuse to travel to Pakistan due to the current circumstances in the country.

"There is still a lot of time for the Asia Cup. We can't be sure that everything will be fine in the country by then or if the tournament will be conducted on Pakistani soil or not. It could also be possible that, apart from India, teams like Bangladesh and Afghanistan also refuse to travel to Pakistan," Kaneria concluded.
