The IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore and Virat Kohli have been synonymous from the inaugural edition of the grand tournament. He has been leading the team since 2013 and has been at the heart of the team's journey till now.

Just ahead of the 2022 season, Kohli stepped down from the role captaincy of the team because of the team's inability to win the trophy under him. As he stepped down from the role, RCB snapped up South African star, Faf du Plessis in the auction and handed over to him the reins of the team.

Before the season started, there were talks among the fans that it might turn out to be the clash of two alphas in the RCB dressing room. But since du Plessis' arrival at the RCB camp, Kohli has apparently formed a special bond with him.

You don't try and compete : Faf du Plessis

In a recent conversation on the Grade Cricketer podcast, du Pelssis revealed how he forged a relationship of brotherhood with Virat Kohli instead of making it a battle of the egos in the dressing room.

"He's a much bigger alpha than me. You don't try and compete. The ego is the thing where peacocks generally clash. Then like the feathers come out and you want to see who has got the shiniest in the room. Luckily, I get that about people and relationships,"- said Faf.

"I don't try and outshine someone else in the dressing room. I try and build a relationship. With Virat, that was exactly my point of entry. I had played against him for so long. He is one of the most competitive guys in the world of cricket to play against. You sit there and you go- how does this guy have so much energy? Every single time a wicket falls, doesn't matter if it's a No.11 or and opening batter, his passion for celebration  is like you just have to go. I'll take my hats off to you. He's a superman," - du Pelssis added.

Notably, RCB made it to the knock outs of IPL 2022 under the leadership of Faf. But the thirst for the first title has not yet been quenched. The team management will hope that this time round the two Alphas come together and bring the much awaited trophy back home.
