On this day in 2011, West Indies clinched a dramatic draw in the third and final Test match against India in Mumbai. It was only the second occasion in red-ball format, with the fixture being drawn with the scores level.

West Indies take a sizeable lead in 1st innings

Batting first, the Caribbean team rode on the terrific performances from Adrian Barath (62), Kraigg Brathwaite (68) and Kirk Edwards (86). Arriving at number four, Darren Bravo (166) ensured the momentum continued, steering the team to a mammoth total on the board.

Kieran Powell (81) and Marlon Samuels (61) were also significant contributors, powering the visitors to a massive 590 in the first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers for India with five scalps.

In reply, Gautam Gambhir (55) and Virender Sehwag (37) provided a fine start to India. Then, Sachin Tendulkar (94), Rahul Dravid (82) and Virat Kohli (52) were impressive in guiding the team. However, it was Ashwin's fabulous 103 that helped India finish on 482.

India produce a comeback; West Indies hold their nerve

Pragyan Ojha was sensational to pick six wickets and bundle out West Indies for a paltry 134. The hosts needed 242 in around 64 overs to secure a 3-0 clean sweep.

However, the key Indian batters, apart from Sehwag (60 off 65), fell early. But Virat Kohli (63) and VVS Laxman (31) put the team in the hunt to chase the score. In the end, India needed three off the final over with two wickets in hand.
