On Saturday morning, Indian stalwart Virat Kohli took to Twitter and reckoned that he has never felt the same energy in a cricket game as the T20 World Cup 2022 game against Pakistan.

The arch-rivals met for the third time this year in the T20 WC at Melbourne on October 23. Before this game, India and Pakistan had won one game each in their previous two encounters in the Asia Cup.

Batting first, Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan fell early to the brilliance of Arshdeep Singh. Then, it was a terrific 76-run stand between Shan Masood (52) and Iftikhar Ahmed (51), which got Pakistan back on track.

In the middle overs, Hardik Pandya caused a dent in Pakistan's lineup by taking three quick wickets. Then, however, Shaheen Afridi scored 16 off 8 to help the Men in Green post 159 on the board.

In response, India were off to a shaky start owing to the wickets of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Then, Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel could not help the team much, and India were reeling at 31/4 in the seventh over.

It took the composure and experience of Kohli and Pandya to keep the team in the hunt with odd boundaries.

With 28 needed off eight balls, Kohli turned the match upside down by hitting successive sixes off Haris Rauf. The next over witnessed Pandya making his way for 40 off 37, thus putting an end to 113-run stand.

Kohli's maximum and Ravichandran Ashwin's presence of mind in the last over helped India to seal a memorable win. The former Indian captain remained unbeaten on 82* off 53 balls, and went on to lead the T20 WC batting charts with 296 runs in six outings.
