Sydney Sixers have had a remarkable turnaround in the ongoing Women's Big Bash League competition, reaching the finals. Last season, they had a horrible campaign, finishing at the last position in the points table, and winning just 4 games despite boasting a strong side.

This season, the core of the squad remained the same, with the only change being the appointment of Charlotte Edwards as the new head coach. They also acquired the services of Sophie Ecclestone, who further strengthened the side.

Now ahead of the big finale, Sixers' star player Ellyse Perry has reflected on the journey of her side.

Perry speaks

"There was just a sense before we even started playing that everyone was looking forward to this season and just felt refreshed and ready to go. I think we learnt a lot last year too and there's nothing wrong with the sense of humility around things at times, I think you take a lot from that," Perry said.

She added: "I do think our group thrives with being able to go home and get away from cricket a little bit, so this year has been refreshing. I think one of the key things of our season has been just how much we've enjoyed one another's company, so it has culminated in being a really good season for us."

Sydney Sixers will clash against the Adelaide Strikers in the WBBL final on Saturday.
