It was a triple header day (24 November) in the 6th edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, where teams like Morrisville Samp Army, Delhi Bulls, and New York Strikers won their respective games to open their accounts on the points table.
Morrisville Samp Army vs Bangla Tigers
In the third match of the tournament, newcomers Samp Army clashed with Bangla Tigers, who were playing their second game of the season. Shakib Al Hasan, the skipper of the Tigers, won the toss and decided to put the newbies in for a bat.
Moeen Ali-led batting order didn't get a good start and lost wickets at regular intervals, which halted their proceedings for a while.
It was Shimron Hetmyer (38 off 21), who steadied the middle overs, while the all-rounders Karim Janat (22* off 14) and George Garton (14* off 4) gave them a good finishing as they put exactly 100 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets.
Benny Howell shone with the ball as he dented the opponents by picking a couple of wickets, while Matheesha Pathirana and Umair Ali scalped a wicket each.
Chasing the total, Bangla Tigers fell short by 15 runs, despite Hazratullah Zazai's (35 off 26) brilliant start. This was because of collective death-bowling efforts from Anrich Nortje, Dwaine Pretorius, and Karim Janat. It was especially Pretorius, with an excellent three-fer, who restricted the Tigers to 85/3 in their allotted 10 overs.
