IPL franchises to request the BCCI to reschedule the mini-auction: Reports

As we know, the ten IPL franchises submitted their final retention list on November 15 ahead of the mini-auction scheduled on December 23. However, as per emerging reports, most franchises are planning to approach the BCCI and request to reschedule the mini-auction.

Notably, the teams' foreign support staff will be on a Christmas holiday at that time, and therefore, they won't be able to attend the auction, set to take place in Kochi. So, to ensure the involvement of their key members, the franchises will likely propose postponing the event.

Meanwhile, 163 players were retained, and as many as 85 were released by the teams from their existing squads ahead of the mini-auction. Hence, we expect some real tussle between the teams, as the likes of Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran, Sam Curran, Alex Hales and Ben Stokes etc., will be up for grabs in the much-awaited mini-auction.

The mega-auction, spanning over two days, was conducted earlier in February this year. On the contrary, the mini-auction will be a one-day affair. As most teams have retained their core players, they will aim to fine-tune their squad ahead of the IPL 2023, which will likely commence in March next year.
