'None of us saw it coming': Dinesh Karthik on BCCI sacking national selectors

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unceremoniously sacked the India men's national selection committee led by former Indian player Chetan Sharma last week over their poor showing in the T20 World Cup 2022.

The four-member committee, which comprised Sharma, Sunil Joshi, Harvinder Singh, and Debashish Mohanty, were during their tenure questioned for their selections, short-term fixes, and handling of Virat Kohli during the infamous 'Kohli-BCCI' saga.

Dinesh Karthik, who made a return to the Indian T20I set-up under Sharma and Co., revealed that he did not anticipate such a knee-jerk reaction from the BCCI so soon.

Speaking with Cricbuzz, Karthik further stated that being a selector is not an easy job, and the upcoming ones will need to make some bold decisions.

​Here's what Karthik said

“Very interesting development. I think none of us saw it coming. It is also an opportunity for the new selectors coming in and we have to see how things unfold."

​With BCCI inviting new applications for the post of chief selector, former India players likes Ajit Agarkar, Nayan Mongia, Salil Ankola and L Sivaramakrishnan have put in their names in the hat.
