AUS vs WI 2022 | Kraigg Brathwaite backs Tagenarine Chanderpaul to succeed in Tests

After a disastrous T20 World Cup 2022, West Indies have shifted their focus to Test cricket with their upcoming two-Test series against hosts Australia. The first Test of the Frank Worrell Trophy will be played in Perth on November 30, while the second and last match will be held at the Adelaide Oval from December 8.

West Indies played their first warm-up match against NSW/ACT, which ended in a draw, and will play a four-day practice game against Prime Ministers XI on Wednesday.

Speaking ahead of the Test series, skipper Kraigg Brathwaite backed former West Indies legend and ICC Hall of Fame inductee Shivnarine Chanderpaul's son Tagenarine Chanderpaul to make a mark in Tests as well.

The left-handed batter is in-line to make his debut against Australia next week.

Tagenarine received his maiden Test call-up after finishing the latest First-Class season as second-highest run-getter.

Here's what Brathwaite said

"He has a bright future for West Indies. Obviously he is a guy who can spend a lot of time at the crease. He just has to do the same things he has done in first-class cricket for Guyana.”

​Brathwaite also praised Shivnarine and called him a legend of the game for inspiring the next generation of West Indian cricketers.

Interestingly, the West Indies, who are yet to lose a Test in 2022 are placed sixth in the WTC table.
