Sri Lanka Cricket announces inaugural 'Lanka T10 League'

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced its inaugural edition of the T10 league named the 'Lanka T20 League'. 

The league will be a collaboration between the SLC and T-Ten Global Sports and will feature men's and women's competitions. Thus, the SLC has become the first ICC full-member side to embrace the shortest-format of the game.

The T-Ten Global Sports already runs the Abu Dhabi T10 League, which has become a regular destination for several top international cricketers since its inception in 2017.

The proposed league will probably commence in June next year and will be played over 12 days. The league will consist of six men's and four women's teams, providing ample opportunities for local cricketers, a chance to mix in with the best.

In a statement, both SLC Honorary President Shammi Silva and Secretary Mohan de Silva expressed their delight over the new tournament. 

Here's what Secretary De Silva said

"We are extremely happy to announce the launch of the Lanka T10 League, which is the shortest format of the game, and I am confident that this competition will provide entertainment and excitement to the fans, quality competition for the players, and valuable exposure for the stakeholders."
