Umar Akmal has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for a meeting. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman last represented his national side in October 2019. The cricketer was subsequently handed a 12-month ban by the PCB for not reporting the corruption approaches made towards him.

During a recent interaction with the media, Akmal said that he wants to play again and wanted to discuss regarding the matter with current PCB Chairman and former cricketer Ramiz Raja.

Umar Akmal says PCB ignoring him without any reason

Umar Akmal was initially banned from all cricketing activities by the PCB in 2020. However, the sentence was later reduced in order for the cricketer to return to the field in 2021.

Despite the conclusion of his ban, Akmal is yet to make a return to the national side. The 32-year-old is currently playing domestic cricket in Pakistan and is representing Central Punjab second XI in the PCB Cricket Associations 4-Day Championship.

In an interaction with the media, he made a meeting request to PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja and claimed the management is ignoring him without a reason. He said:

“Ramiz bhai! I want to meet you, I want to play cricket and I want to discuss a few things with you. Management is ignoring me without any reason.”

The Lahore-born player also regretted his actions after PCB granted him a chance to return to club level.
