Sydney Sixers produced a clinical performance as they thrash the Hobart Hurricanes by 8 wickets in match number 54 of the Women's Big Bash League.

Hurricanes were never really in the game as they faltered in all three departments of the game.

Clinical Sixers restrict Hurricanes to below par total

Sixers won the toss and they elected to bowl first. Hurricanes were off to a worse possible start as Rachel Trenaman was sent packing for just 8. Lizelle Lee and Mignon du Preez tried to resurrect the innings, but once Lee departed for 20, Hurricanes fell like a pack of cards.

Du Preez (38) held one end and received decent support from Heather Graham (30), but Sixers bowlers proved to be too strong for the Hobart side as they crumbled under pressure and were bundled out 156.

Ellyse Perry proved her mettle with the ball and grabbed 2 for 16 in 3 overs. Apart from the all-rounder Kate Peterson picked up 3 wickets and gave away 31 runs.

Perry shines with the bat

Chasing 157, Sixers were off to a flier, thanks to the deadly duo of Suzie Bates and Alyssa Healy. Once both the opening batters departed, Perry (56*) took the centre stage and alongside fellow Aussie Ashleigh Gardner (45*) made sure that their were no more hiccups in the chase. Sixers eventually crossed the winning line with 7 balls to spare.

Ruth Johnston and Hayley Jensen both picked up a wicket each for the Hurricanes.
