South African cricket has been crying for this: Jacques Kallis on SA20

With a lot of hopes, Cricket South Africa (CSA) is all set to launch the inaugural season of the SA20 on January 10. Six teams all bought by Indian franchises will ply their trade in the African nation.

Now, the assistant coach of Pretoria Capitals and South African legend Jacques Kallis has expressed his delight over the league's commencement in his country. While talking about the impact that franchise-based competitions have created, he emphasised on the fact that it has certainly helped in developing more talent around the globe.

Furthermore, he was elated that having personnel of international standard would prove to be a blessing for the contest. Adding that it would upgrade the talent in the country.

“I think South African cricket has been crying out for this for a long time. I think we’ve seen the wonderful job it’s (franchise league cricket) done around the world in terms of how the local competition has improved cricket,

“Having international players and coaches is also certainly going to provide a good product. It is going to improve the young guys coming through. I have no doubt it’s going to be the same here and everyone is looking forward to it. The standard will be very high."

The first season of the SA20 will be played from 10th January and will be broadcasted live on Viacom18 in India.
