England's ICC T20 World Cup 2022 winning campaign was driven by Sam Curran's enthralling bowling across the tournament. Curran, 24, accounted for 13 wickets in six matches, including a match-changing 3-for in the final against Pakistan.

The left-arm bowler's ability to control the old ball impressed one-and-all, despite not having the best pre-tournament form. Former T20 World Cup medal holder Ryan Sidebottom lauded Curran for rising to the occasion at crunch moments for his side.

Sidebottom, who was part of England's T20 title triumph in 2010 under Paul Collingwood, speaking to the Yorkshire Post, revealed that Curran is a big-match player and has a bright future ahead.

"He’s a big-game player, he does it time and time again, and when things are maybe not going England’s way, he comes on and takes few wickets.

He’s just one those players, he really is, he’s a fantastic cricketer who just makes things happen. He’s had a brilliant tournament.”

Sidebottom worked with Curran during his stint as Surrey's bowling consultant in 2018 and praised the youngster's work ethic behind the scenes.

With the injury to Reece Topley, the England management preferred Curran over David Willey, and the rest as they say became history.
