After an early humiliating exit from the round 1 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022, West Indies were heavily criticised by various cricket pundits and in fact, their own board. Now, Caribbean legend and ICC Hall of Famer Shivnarine Chanderpaul has come out to present his views on the matter.

According to Chanderpaul, the two time T20 champions have fallen behind due to T20 leagues played all over the globe impacting their cricket. He mentioned that his side played for 'pride' rather than financial gains.

However, nowadays, the situation ain't same anymore as income of most of the T20 specialists come from leagues rather international cricket. His cautiousness was iterated in the words that players are going all in for heavy paychecks.

"We all played for more than just money, we played for pride,

"There are a lot of Premier [T20] leagues around the world. West Indies cricket is not what these guys would depend on these days so I do not think they are as keen. They can go elsewhere and play and not focus on having to represent West Indies,

"Whatever comes up, the guys are happy to make as much as they can while their cricket career lasts."

West Indies will next be seen playing in a two match Test series in Australia beginning this month.
