With the IPL mini-auction being around the corner, the franchises are preparing their respective lists of players they will retain ahead of the IPL 2023. Meanwhile, according to emerging reports, Mumbai Indians will likely release their trusted finisher, Kieron Pollard, to the auction pool.

Pollard, who has scripted numerous iconic victories for MI in the past, failed miserably with the bat in IPL 2022, managing only 144 runs at an average of 14.40. Therefore, considering his form, the franchise has apparently decided to move on from him.

However, former India great Harbhajan Singh believes it will be emotionally challenging for Mumbai to let Pollard go, as he has been one of their biggest match-winners over the years. Harbhajan, who was an integral part of MI's triumphant squads in three seasons, also opined that the five-time champions might target Cameron Green as a replacement for Pollard in the upcoming season.

Here's what Harbhajan stated

"I think it's going to be very difficult for Mumbai Indians to release Kieron Pollard. He has been there for many years. But yes, there are times when you have to take a few tough calls and may be this is the time. They have to move forward and make a team for the next 4-5 years,

"There is another Australian in the auction that is Cameron Green. I think they will be eyeing him to be part of the Mumbai setup."
