When MS Dhoni walks on the field next time in yellow, there would be much expectation from the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings.

The much heated debate of Ravindra Jadeja became a national issue with other franchises having a keen eye on the prime Indian all-rounder. Fair enough, there isn't anyone who would want to miss out on his services.

CSK's performance in the last season wasn't up to the mark and it should be running hard on MS' head. However, he won't be bothering too much about it as it has been the case previously with him.

Firstly, we will look at players who could be on their way out:

1. Chris Jordan (3.60 Cr)

With an under-par performance in the 15th edition of the IPL, England's bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan was very much expensive in the death. His economy rate of 10.52 in the four innings costed his side a lot and hence, could be released.

2. Adam Milne (1.90 Cr)

After playing just one match, New Zealand's Adam Milne got injured and missed the entire remaining season after that. His absence costed CSK a lot as they missed genuine pace. However, his replacement Matheesha Pathirana stepped up and is most likely to be retained by the franchise.

3. Dwayne Bravo (4.40 Cr)

39-year-old, West Indies' Dwayne Bravo is at the fag end of his career and if the recent trend is anything to go by, he might have already played his last match in the IPL. Another factor could be is that he is becoming more injury-prone now. Although, releasing him at this stage looks unlikely as he has been phenomenal for the franchise in all his years.

4. Ambati Rayudu (6.75 Cr)

One of the stars of CSK's 2018 & 2021 campaign, Ambati Rayudu has lost his touch which he one possessed. His last season, according to him didn't go well so considered immediate retirement but after some talks with the management, he reversed his decision. However, it is very much possible that he is out of their plans now.

5. Jagadeesan Narayan (20 L)

Low strike rate might be the big reason why Jagadeesan Narayan could be sent back to auction. In the two chances he got last season, his strike rate of 108.11 wasn't enough to justify his position.

6. Mitchell Santner (1.90 Cr)

With some reports emerging that CSK has let go of their Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner, it remains to be seen if rumours turn true. His performance in the 2022 season was decent with an economy rate of 6.84.

7. Robin Uthappa (2 Cr)

After he hung up his boots earlier this year, Robin Uthappa won't be playing any form of cricket in India. Hence, it is nothing but a formality that he is going to be released.

Some good news for the fans, Ravindra Jadeja is all set to continue with franchise and is mostly confirmed that he has been retained.

Looking at the purse value, CSK were left with only 2.95 crores after the end of auction in 2022 and additionally, the increase in purse value by 5 crores will only help their case. Now, with the names mentioned above it adds up to 20.75 Cr minus 20 L that went to Pathirana will take their value to 20.55 Cr.

Now, the final remaining amount could be around 28.5 Cr if they release all the players named above.

With this much amount, they can surely target an international quality all-rounder from Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cameron Green who can be of great advantage to them. Also, they could end up freeing as many as four overseas, giving in the room to explore more talents.

Releasing 7 players from a total of 25 would take their strength to 18, and if added one replacement it would be 19. Therefore, it is a possibility that they might release the aforementioned names to get a bigger purse.
