On Sunday, Saurashtra's Samarth Vyas created history when he became the fifth batter in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) to slam a double-hundred. Vyas slammed a 131-ball 200 against Manipur in the ongoing 2022 edition of the VHT, helping his side to a 282-run win, and solidifying the number one spot in the Elite Group A table.

Vyas joins the likes of Karn Veer Kaushal, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Prithvi Shaw. Mumbai's Shaw holds the record for the highest individual score in VHT history - 227 against Puducherry in 2021.

Vyas's 200 was also the ninth List-A double hundred in Indian domestic cricket.

Vyas along with Harvik Desai snitched a 282-run stand as well, which is the highest-ever partnership for Saurashtra bettering Sitanshu Kotak and Bimal Jadeja's 206-run stand against Mumbai in 1996.

The 26-year-old was the side's leading run-getter in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022, with 314 runs.

Since making Saurashtra debut, the Rajkot-born has played 10 First-Class, 33 List-A, and 28 T20s.
