England defeated Pakistan in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to win their second title. It was a close match, but it was the nerves of Ben Stokes that got England across the line.

The Journey

The journey for England in the T20 World Cup 2022 was not a smooth sailing. They had a rocky start to the campaign. Though they won their first match against Afghanistan by 5 wickets, they were met with and immediate disaster in the next outing when they lost against Ireland in a rain-interrupted match by 5 runs.

But after this they picked themselves up as a unit and it was the skipper Jos Buttler who showed the path of redemption with his own batting performance. They won the next two must win Super 12 matches against New Zealand and Sri Lanka and made it to the top 4.

In the semi-final, England faced India, one of the favourites for this year. But India was swatted aside by England as they won the match by 10 wickets and made it to the grand finale of the tournament.

In the final, Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. They were tasked to chase down 138 runs in their 20 overs. The match got stuck at one stage but Ben Stokes played calm and composed knock to take the team home.
