An open letter to the Indian Cricket team from a true fan

Dear Men in Blue,

It wasn't easy for us to see you lose in the semi-final against England and I am quite sure it was harder for you guys to deal with it. I know this week has been pretty tough for you guys. Lot of blames, rants, memes, jokes and what not you all had to face. You open internet for a minute and find experts (not-so-experts) firing back at you all for the loss. But the fact is that you all gave your best in this tournament.

When the World Cup dream got shattered, I was crying and with me I am sure a billion others were. When our coach Rahul Dravid came to console an emotional Rohit Sharma, it broke me down. Not because he was dejected but due to the fact that all the hard work has fallen apart.

Winning a World Cup brings joy, proud, happiness and laurels to your country and losing brings abuse. This is a hard fact. People at times get a little too sensitive and forget that you all are the same who have defeated every other nation at their home. And losing in one match won't change the fact that you guys are the best.

The thing is that the game is meant to be played bearing in mind that one has to lose. No matter how good or bad any side is, they can lose to any other team. If Zimbabwe can defeat Australia, we just lost to a team like England. It is about the performance on a particular day and we have to accept that we weren't anywhere near to good that day. Don't worry we will go again for that trophy that has been eluding us since 2013.

After the loss, people are talking about MS Dhoni who took us to the championship but they forget one thing that he took 10 attempts in his career in win 3 ICC trophies which isn't fair enough to the current crop. Our Cheeku (Virat Kohli) only captained in three white-ball events whereas Rohit was leading the side in his first.

We know if not today and surely soon enough, we would get the trophy home. Just need some patience because we have the calibre. So, with hope in my heart, let's go for the ICC Test Championship first and then the World Cup next year which will be played in front of our fans.

Together we win, together we fight.

Always with you,
A forever Blue Fan.
