England Test opener Alex Lees has inked a three-year contract extension deal with Durham, which will see him in the north east until at least the end of the 2025 season.

The stylish southpaw was delighted at his re-signing. He was also determined to regain his place in the national team through some admirable performances for the iconic County Club.

Here's what Lees stated

“I am delighted to resign for the club, and I am looking forward to perusing some silverware and regain my place in the test team,

“Durham afforded me an opportunity to play regular first team cricket again and I’m glad I can show some gratitude by extending my terms.”

Durham's Director of Cricket and former Australia cricketer Marcus North welcomed Lees gleefully and hailed him for his consistency over the years.

"To have Alex commit his future to Durham is brilliant news for the Club. Since joining in 2018, his performances on the field and contributions behind the scenes have been outstanding."

Lees has represented England in 10 Tests with a modest success, amassing 453 runs at a dismal average of 23.84.  However, the 29-year-old is regarded one of the finest openers in the English domestic circuit, having 8181 runs to his name in 144 First-Class appearances.
