Former India cricketer and current head of the National Cricket Academy, VVS Laxman will be the head coach of India for the tour of New Zealand. The Rahul Dravid led coaching staff have been given a break after India's exit from the T20 World Cup.

India is scheduled to play six white-ball matches against the Kiwis, which includes 3 T20Is and 3 ODI games. The series starts from November 18 in Wellington.

Not only the coaching staff, but senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have also been granted rest for the upcoming tour.

The new coaching staff will include Laxman as the head coach, Hrishikesh Kanitkar as (batting), and Sairaj Bahutule as (bowling) coach respectively.

This is not the first time Laxman will coach the Indian side. He worked with team India during their tours of Ireland and Zimbabwe, and also in the recently concluded home series against South Africa.

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya will lead the Indian T20I side, while Shikhar Dhawan will be in-charge of the Indian ODI team.
