For the Women's T20 World Cup 2023 buildup, South Africa, India and West Indies have collaborated for a triangular series in South Africa, East London in January and February 2023. Succeeding the triangular series, the top two teams will play a championship match and will go on a break before the World Cup.

The three teams will play each other twice during the round-robin stage. Meanwhile the World Cup matches will be held in Cape Town, Gqeberha and Paarl until February 26, 2023.

CSA director Enoch Nkwe expressed his delight

"These two sides [India and West Indies] are up there with the most talented and entertaining nations in women's T20 cricket, having featured in two of the last four finals, with the West Indies lifting the trophy in 2016. This will give the Proteas a highly competitive build-up to the ultimate prize of the T20 World Cup."

Group A includes South Africa along with Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Whereas Group B includes India, Pakistan, England, Ireland, and West Indies. Australia are the defending champions and are the tournament favourites. They have won the trophy five times so far. While India has only made it to the finals once in 2020.
