Pakistan managed to reverse their group stage fortune as the Asian side beat New Zealand in the first semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2022 to secure a place in the finals at MCG.

Heading into the fixture as the underdogs, Pakistan displayed the standard of cricket expected from their side, with their batters leading the charge against a quality New Zealand bowling unit.

Skipper Babar Azam found his touch in the need of the hour scoring his first fifty in this edition of the tournament. He was well supported by Mohammad Rizwan who also crossed the fifty run mark to guide his team past the finish line.

Rizwan spoke to the media after the semifinal and talked about the highly anticipated final on Sunday,

“Our boys said that they were hoping for a final against India. Some players have been comparing our campaign to the 1992 World Cup, so they are fine with facing England in the final as well,”

“According to me, the biggest series in the world is the Ashes, but even bigger than that is an India vs Pakistan match. The whole world will enjoy that matchup. What else can I ask for,”

Pakistan will eagerly wait for the result of the second semifinal that will determine their opponent this coming Sunday.
