In an unfortunate turn of events, experienced England speedster Mark Wood has been ruled out of the second semifinal against India due to injury. Wood developed muscle stiffness during a practice session and was doubtful for the game. And as it seems, England have decided not to take the risk of going with him, as it might adversely affect his career.

Wood's injury could be a significant blow for England, as he was sublime in the showpiece event. Wood, statistically the fastest bowler at present, has scalped nine wickets at an astonishing strike rate of 9.33. As he is the lone English bowler who can clock 150 kph consistently, his absence must have brought relief to the Indian camp.

Veteran pacer Chris Jordan has been named Wood's replacement for the match. Although Jordan hasn't played a single game in the World Cup, he has a plethora of experience in T20Is. He can assist Sam Curran at the death overs with his yorkers and contribute some handy runs down the order. Additionally, his fielding is an x-factor for the Three lions.

After winning the toss, England have decided to bowl first. The toss is an advantage for the Englishmen, considering the nature of Adelaide's surface and the depth of their batting lineup.
