Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022: All you need to know

India's premier domestic ODI tournament, Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, is set to kick off on November 12 and runs till December 2. A total of 38 teams, divided into five Elite groups, A, B, C, D and E, will participate in the tournament. 

The tournament's group stage will take place from November 12 to 23, while knockouts are scheduled to be played from November 26. 

The venues for the league fixtures are Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Ranchi, while Ahmedabad will host the semi-finals and final. 

The previous edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy saw Himachal Pradesh securing their maiden title by beating Tamil Nadu by 11 runs. However, other teams like Mumbai, Karnataka, Punjab, Vidarbha and Saurashtra will also be tough competitors due to their impressive performances in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. 


Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022: Five Players to Watch Out for

Rishi Dhawan

Rishi was the finest all-round performer in the last edition, with 458 runs and 17 wickets in eight appearances. Rishi also led the Himachal team to their first-ever title victory. 


Prithvi Shaw

The in-form batter will be a crucial player in Mumbai's top order. He is coming into this tournament by scoring 332 runs in 10 innings. 


Ruturaj Gaikwad

Gaikwad has been a consistent contributor to the Maharashtra side across all formats. He was the top-scorer in the last season with 603 runs in five innings, with a top score of 168. 


Yash Thakur

The talented pacer from Vidarbha emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the last edition with 18 scalps in seven games, with best figures of 5/53. Also, he bagged 15 wickets in 10 games in SMAT 2022. 


Washington Sundar

The vice-captain of the Tamil Nadu team will be crucial to the team's prospects in both departments, especially on the bowling front. He took 16 wickets in eight matches of the last edition at an efficient economy of 4.77.
