Team India finished Group 1 at the top of the table after recording a thumping 71-run victory over Zimbabwe in the Super-12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul delivered stellar batting performances to help India post a mammoth total of 186 runs on the board. While Rahul played a half-century knock, Suryakumar clobbered 61 runs off just 25 balls.

It was the third half-century for Suryakumar Yadav in the ongoing showpiece tournament. During the course of his knock, Suryakumar also became only the second batter in world cricket to complete 1000 runs in T20Is in a calendar year.

Speaking in the post-match conference after India's thumping win against Zimbabwe, Rohit Sharma showered praises on Suryakumar Yadav and said his boundary-clearing hitting abilities often allow the other batters to take some time in the middle.

Here's what Rohit Sharma said

"What he's doing for the team is remarkable. Playing and taking pressure off others - it's quite important. We know his ability and it allows the other guys to take some time as well,

"The confidence he shows when he bats, the dug-out can be at ease. He's shown a lot of composure. This is something we expect from him. He's going from strength to strength."

Following a dominating performance in the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup 2022, India are set to take on England in the second semi-final match of the tournament on Thursday.

Weighing in on the same, Rohit admitted that it will be a high-voltage clash against the Three Lions and they need to execute their plans well to outfox the Jos Buttler-led England

"The key for us will be to adjust to the conditions as quickly as possible. We've played a game there but England will be a good challenge for us. Two teams going at each other, it'll be a great contest."

"We need to understand what each individual needs to do. It's going to be a high-pressure game. We need to play well. If we do play well, we have a good game ahead as well. You need to adjust quickly and plan accordingly."
