As per emerging reports, Gujarat Titans are considering trading ace New Zealand paceman Lockie Ferguson for promising India pacer Shivam Mavi with Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2023.

Regarded as one of the fastest bowlers going around, Ferguson has represented Gujarat Titans in 13 matches with modest success, scalping 12 wickets at a mediocre economy of 8.96. However, he has recorded impressive numbers in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia, bagging seven wickets at a healthy strike rate of 12.86. The right-arm fast bowler has also played 18 games for KKR in the past, claiming 21 wickets with the best figures of three for 15.

On the other hand, Mavi is known as a magician with the new ball in the domestic circuit and has 30 wickets to his name in 32 appearances for the Knight Riders. However, he mostly warmed the bench in the previous season, making it into the playing eleven on only six occasions.

If this trade happens, it will boost KKR's death bowling, as they found it challenging to choke the opponents in the slog-overs last season. But, on the other hand, the move might backfire on the Titans, as they will depend on Mavi, Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya to operate in the last five overs.
