South Africa crashed out of the T20 World Cup 2022 earlier today after the defeat to Netherlands

Australian legend Tom Moody has now highlighted a major weak link in their squad during the course of the tournament. He believes that captain Temba Bavuma has let down his side with his sub-par performances.

As quoted by ESPN, Moody said: "Without a doubt. That's [Bavuma's form] the elephant in the room. There's better form players for this format sitting on the bench that should be playing on that side. That will be a discussion, that has to be a discussion in South Africa's review because you cannot afford to carry key personnel. Particularly at the top of the order. That is the critical point."

Bavuma has been in abysmal for his country in the shortest format of the game and the Proteas should have drafted in a replacement for him ahead of the showpiece event. Bavuma is more suited to the ODI format.

He has scored just 70 runs from his last five innings in T20Is and that is simply not good enough for a player who is leading a side capable of winning the World Cup.

South Africa will now look to regroup and bounce from the T20 World Cup 2022 disappointment over the next few months. With the ODI World Cup scheduled to take place in India next year, the Proteas will look to get their combinations right and make their mark in the marquee event.
