In a big development, former all-rounder Lance Klusener is all set to be announced as the new head coach of South Africa's one-day team on an interim basis. The news was first reported by The South African, which was confirmed by some unnamed sources.

Previously, Malibongwe Maketa was elected as the interim head coach of Proteas' Test team who as of now is overseeing South Africa's A side and National Academy, will lead the side in their next assignment against Australia in December.

Klusener's first task will be after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2022, which will be South Africa's tour of Australia in January.

Few months back, the current Head coach in all three formats Mark Boucher resigned from his position following his deal with IPL franchise Mumbai Indians.

Last month, Klusener who was associated with Zimbabwe in capacity of batting coach left his position roughly two weeks before the marquee event in Australia.

Playing 171 ODI matches for the Rainbow nation, Klusener was instrumental to their success scoring 3576 and scalping 192 wickets across his eight years beginning from 1996.
