Ahead of the crucial Super 12 fixture against Sri Lanka, Alex Hales reckons that England have the 'firepower' and 'skills' to beat the Lankan Lions and seal their place in the semi-finals.

Things are getting spicier in group 1, with New Zealand, England and Australia fighting it out for a place in the semis. England currently occupy the second place in the group, just behind New Zealand and have a better net run-rate than Australia at the moment.

Australia have to win by a big margin against Afghanistan to put pressure on England, but Hales is confident that his side can pull it off against a spirited Sri Lankan side.

What did Hales say?

"It all comes naturally to us, especially with the layout of our squad, playing an extra batter and our middle order is strong. It is a very confident batting unit, so we'll be able to adapt to whatever tomorrow needs.

We have to play our best cricket to win. But as I said, we are pretty confident, the mood is good in the camp and we feel like we can deal with anything. We've got the skills and firepower to do it," Hales stated.

It is a neck-to-neck battle in group 1 and England can't slip up against Sri Lanka. A win will almost ensure a place in the next round of the competition.
