Kane Williamson finally came good with the bat for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2022. The Black Caps captain, who has been struggling to put bat on the ball since his Tennis Elbow injury, has finally broken the jinx and scored a prepossessing 61 off 35 deliveries.

His fifty might have come against Ireland, but Williamson scored runs at a healthy strike rate when all the batters struggled with the bat. Apart from coming back to flow, he added another feather in his hat as the Kiwi maestro also became the leading run-scorer (653* runs) for his nation in the T20 World Cup history.

The 32-year-old has been playing the T20 format for the Black Caps since 2011, while he made his T20 World Cup debut in the 2012 edition - meaning he has been the part of 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021 and 2022 editions of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Tauranga-born also has played fourth highest number of games for New Zealand in T20 World Cups as he is just behind Martin Guptill (28), Ross Taylor (28) and Brendon McCullum (25).

Now coming back to the ongoing clash, Ireland are on-roads in the chase of 186 runs, where the openers - Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbarnie - have given them an unbeaten 68-run stand after 8 overs.
