Contrary to popular opinion, India's bowling in the ongoing ICC t20 World Cup 2022 has been top-notch, despite missing Jasprit Bumrah. In Bumrah's absence, the 23-year-old Arshdeep Singh took over the mantle of the opening and closing bowling for Team India.

Singh has claimed nine wickets in four matches and has become a vital cog in the attack for Rohit Sharma across 20 overs. The left-arm bowler's opening burst with the new ball against Pakistan and impeccable yorkers against Bangladesh were to marvel.

Singh's outing in the tournament saw him get praised by one of the legends, Pakistan'sWasim Akram.

Speaking to Irfan Pathan on Star Sports' show 'Follow the Blues', the lad from Punjab opened up about mastering the new and the old ball.

"My focus was always on consistency. You cannot afford to give too many loose balls at the international level. I want to be good while bowling with the new ball and with the old ball. I want to pick wickets or control runs as per the need,"

The youngster also revealed his talks with Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, whose suggestion has helped him claim wickets in Australia.

"Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach) worked with me on my run-up. He said, if I come straight, I will get more consistency with my line,"

Singh will next be seen in action for India against Zimbabwe on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
