Rishabh Pant's exclusion from India's playing XI in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 has baffled many former and active players. However, Pant widely regarded as India's next batting sensation is yet to display his skills in the T20 format.

So far in the competition, Pant's only appearance came as a subbed wicketkeeper during India's match against South Africa, where the more-preferred Dinesh Karthik sustained a niggle while fielding.

Karthik is not having the best outings in Australia, managing 14 runs from four games. Former Australian great Ian Chappell believes that Pant should have played ahead of Karthik in every game.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Chappell elaborated that Karthik was picked on domestic form and compared his comeback with Australia's Tim David.

"What has Tim David done at the international level? Sometimes, selectors pick players on domestic form, and I think India is a classic example. They are picking Dinesh Karthik ahead of Rishabh Pant... ridiculous! I mean, Rishabh Pant should be playing every game. So, that's the tendency."

India play their final Super 12 game on Sunday against Zimbabwe.
