On Thursday (November 3), Sussex County Cricket Club announced that they have signed West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales for the first three months of the 2023 season.

The young Caribbean pacer made his Test debut against South Africa in June 2021 and has gone on to play nine Tests, in which he has taken 36 wickets at an average of 21.77.

The 21-year-old also holds the unique record of being the youngest bowler to take five wickets in a Test for the West Indies, claiming figures of 5/55 against Pakistan in August 2021.

The Trinidad-born will play both the County Championship and T20 Blast for Sussex County Club. As for the shortest format, Seales has played 22 T20 matches, picking 29 wickets.

In his reaction, Seales expressed his eagerness to expose himself to different conditions, allowing himself to evolve as a bowler.

Here's how Seales reacted to his signing

"As a young fast-bowler, I want to expose myself to as many different conditions and challenges as possible,

"I can't wait to test myself in England and hopefully contribute to a winning start for Sussex in both Championship and T20 cricket."

Sussex Performance Director Keith Greenfield also expressed his delight at Jayden Seales' signing, stating he will be one of the match-winners for the club in the upcoming season.

"Securing a quality overseas fast bowler was hugely important for us for the start of next summer, particularly in Championship cricket, so to secure Jayden ahead of others is fantastic for us. Those who have played against him and seen him at close quarters have been impressed by his skills and appetite for bowling,

"He has certainly started impressively in Test cricket, and it is also great that he wants to play County cricket and knows how important it can be for him going forward."
